Lets all give this a chance. It will be nice to have the track open up. The local community can get some business from the racers. They can also have car shows there again. There is a great opportunity here.

Darrin I'm sure the neighbors enjoyed the peace and quiet while it lasted. I'm sure it pumps a lot (not) of money into local businesses. LOL!
Im I neighbor of the dragway & actually miss the roaring of the engines. Glad it will be back. Its a sound of summer.

I used to go there and then got busy with family life. I had never even thought that it might not be around and was very disappointed when it didn't open this year.
I will be taking my son this summer.
summerhelp I though I heard it the other day when driving by Great Meadows. It was like hearing the frogs peeping to herald the start of summer.
mistergoogle I f this News is true I will be so Happy This small race track is like a area ICON , I have grown up here in the area and hearing the engines scream and the tires squeal and the smell of burning rubber and race fuel AAAAAAAAAA love in I have gone from just watching then raceing my own cars to buying a real race car and running it to back now to just watching ,
If the track opens up the word will spread like wild fire good luck to the track
on one note if you move near a air port you will have to put up with the planes same with a drag strip at least we are not out in front of your house doing burn outs

WorkerB - I completely agree. I've been living here in Great Meadows for almost 22 years now and as far as I can remember back I loved hearing the cars engines from Island Dragway. It's just been too quiet since it closed down.

I plan on being there at least that Sunday for the nostalgia race. I'd like to be there all 3 days but I have family stuff too.Less than 2 weeks. Can't wait!!!!!!
All of us forum members should be there and pick a time to meet. It would be cool to put faces with the names.

Ed Beers One thing my grandmother always said was when she was buried in Great Meadows cemetery ,she'd be able to hear the cars at Island.She went there there a few times when I was a teenager and she loved it.
Island Dragway has officially re-opened. The races are just starting. Traffic is backed up all the way to Rt 46 in Great Meadows. Welcome Back!
