A CD store (Yes, a CD store) to open @ Rockaway Mall

So, today I learned the surprising fact that a real CD store, like the one that used to be in Hackettstown (I think in the mall?) is opening at rockaway, in the Liberty Travel which moved to a strip mall outside. I have a feeling somebody at mall management is having a nostalgia attack; in the past two years they've opened a video store, a book store, and now this.

Where on my iPod do I stick a CD?

Other stores coming soon... In no particular order.

1. Typed. A typewriter and typewriter accessory store.
2. Beepers Plus. A store dedicated to the beeper. Nothing more cool then wearing a beeper on your hip.
3. JMD video. Yes JMD is back and better then ever. This time with twice the amount of VHS porn tapes in stock and some even in beta. Hopefully this time, blockbuster video doesn't kill them.
4. 1 Hour photo. No digital photography here. This place is old school. Bring your rolls of film and in 1 hour your 4x6 prints are done.

Seriously who we be dumb enough to open a cd store in the mall. I'd like to talk to this person as I have a bridge for sale. Cheap.

Are you sure it is not a DVD store? I was there this week and was surprised to see it. I thought Netflix and streaming just about killed retail DVDs.

@EVV, it's definitely a cd store. It is literally called "the cd store "

What happened, botheredbyuu, did your 8-track finally quit on you?

No, haha. Guess Im old school. Dont have a ipod, iphone, or I anything else. See no purpose for them. If Im cleaning, doing laundry, whatever, I have the CD playing, blasting if I want, which you cant do with an ipod, unless you want to go deaf.

Why do I have the strange suspicion that @iPhone-imal is actually 14 years old?

I'm thinking of starting two new businesses. One is a buggy whip business, the other is phone cord business. I can sell different colored phone cords.

Any investors?

Maybe it's just an extension of Sound Exchange in Wayne which specializes in records and used cds .There really is nothing quite like the deep sound from a well maintained vinyl record played back on a decent system . Can't imagine an actual Sam Goody type cd store trying to make it with new expensive cds when you can buy the one or two good songs on them for .99-1.29 online or search and download them for free or buy the cd used for much less online . Either a specialist store or one doomed for failure it seems . If you have a decent 2.1 system on your computer you can appreciate the deep vinyl album sound of the track below .

I was in the mall this morning, yes there is actually a cd store now. It's downstairs right near Picture People, Lord & Tayor, and Villa Pizza.

Im going to open a good ole cathouse. Lots of ladies with big bazookas and collagen infused lips. You can have a few cocktails at the bar while waiting. Sex and booze is always a winner.

They still make vinyl? I thought that the oldest thing they still made was cassettes. I'm surprised anybody buys it. Kinda thought it was like 8-track or Betamax - long gone.

That will probably define that store . But if it's cds only there is really no point as the internet HAS that market and has for at least a decade .

Vinyl still rules in a lot of countries.
We just observed Record Store Day 2014 this past Saturday.

Vinyl has made a massive comeback in the last decade. As opposed to CDs, it's considered a nicer piece of art, with more intricate packaging. Vinyl also had a different sound that CDs don't. Finally all vinyl releases now have download cards so you can put the record on your iPod. It's something physical to sell that people actually want to have.

Vinyl never went anywhere. You just chose to modernize.

My exceedingly hip 16 year old loves her RECORD PLAYER!....a Holiday gift a few years ago. I even dragged my old box of LPs into her room. She now likes The Kinks.
(...along with LPs from The Arctic Monkeys, Lorde and Vampire Weekend....)
