Filtered water pitcher

have 2 Zero water brand filtered water pitchers, and when I lifted the lid off one today, saw mold in the filter area (pale orange color) - yuck! I don't have to fill them every day, and I've been drinking the water out of the moldy pitcher - no wonder I've been having bad sinus pain, and even a bloody nose yesterday. does anyone use these type of pitchers? how do you avoid this happening in the types you use?

i once left my full brita by the kitchen window, must of been in direct sunlight and when i got home there was green all in the pitcher, almost like it grew alge

my pitcher was also near the kitchen window - maybe that's what contributed to it.

Two easiest ways to avoid that - keep it out of the sun light, and change the filter every month.

melmel, i bet you are correct. That is the only time i have ever had a problem

I've used Brita pitcher for 5 years and keep it in fridge. Change filter according to use.
