Surgeon recommendations for a hernia

Hello HLifers.

I have a hernia right below my sternum and have it had it for a few years. I was wondering if anyone has experience with having hernia surgery local and would recommend a surgeon?

Thank you.

I used Dr. Campions's associate, Dr. Jay Busch. Dr. Busch was in my insurance network, Dr. Campion was not. Dr. Busch ( without my knowledge or consent) used Dr. Campion to assist and I was hit with a hefty bill from Dr. Champion. I fought it through my insurance company and won, I did not have to pay it. Why is one doctor in a multi Dr. practice in an insurance network, but not all? So just be careful in choosing a doctor to make sure you will be covered by any doctors involved in the procedure, will approved by your insurance company.

My dad needs to have a hernia repaired. Since this thread is 3 years old, does anyone have a surgeon that you highly recommend now for this and can you briefly discuss your experience with the surgery and recovery?

Dr. Campion was my first choice but his associate was out of network. I was told by the office he would be assisting in an out of network capacity which meant that I wouldn't be able to use them without paying up for it.

I ended up having the procedure done at Summit Medical Group with Dr. Carter. I would highly recommend him.
