Trails and Public Land for Off-Roading near Hackettstown

Me and my buddy's like to off road and get muddy but we have found that we go to the same locations every time. Does anyone know of any state or public land that offers different trails or just a open area to off-road (preferably leagal) that are around Hackettstown, Great Meadows or Allamuchy area?

There aren't any. Go to the legitimate parks out in PA.

I live in Port Murray looking for exactly the same thing. I usually end up having to go up to West Milford or PA

I would love something closer. I don't see why we cant, there is so much land around here.

zero places.... NEW JERSEY SUCKS .. All the rich people complain about kids riding atvs, dirt bikes or off roading.. NJ is not what it used to be.. I rode everywhere in the 80s and 90s good luck now a days .. .. yeah you know who I am talking about ..city people who moved here complain .. rich yuppies ... old people... Tree huggers.. Not the state to enjoy the outdoors in.... Sorry

There are no legal off-roading trails in NJ on public land.

However the best Mountain Bike trails in the state are right here in Allamuchy, Stephens, and Kittattinny, most former dirt bike paths (ironic, eh?)

There are legal areas in Pine Barrons in South Jersey. There are considered maintained fire roads and a pretty good time, just a 2 hour ride away.
I have heard of people getting in contact with land owners and getting their blessing.
I also heard there were some fire roads in a nearby state park that were legal to drive on. Need to find that info again though.

Hopefully you find something local cause I sure miss it and just don't have the time to head out to PA.

Pete,
It is my recollection that Corzine did away with public trails, etc... Not rich people.

Highly doubtful there are any fire roads in northern Jersey legal to any "off road" vehicle. I think even the ones in south Jersey are for dual sport (street legal) motorcycles too. Fire "cuts" may be off limits... those are what the enduros mostly use, if those events are even allowed in NJ anymore.

It's sad... used to be an enduro throughout Allamuchy/Stephens park (Ridge Run Enduro). Glad I got to race it once before that was killed off.
