Escape Rooms
Just wondering if anyone has done this? A few of us want to go try it out, but wanted to see if anybody had a review on it?...its in Montclair and $3o per person. Just wondering if it's worth it? A challenge or something a 10 year old could solve? TIA
There is one in Wharton as well on Dewey Ave. Looks like fun.

I remember reading, a year or so ago, about one opening in Easton, PA. Not sure if it ever did.
JRT - Let us know how it is if you go.
Yea I will....I just realized that's the Haunted House we went to two years ago lol! I didn't realize they were doing the escape rooms also:)
My friends went to the one in Montclair - they said it was a challenge ... and had a blast!
My kids (all adults) went and they enjoyed it. They did say they would have gone with a smaller group next time. They were a group of 8 and they said there wasn't enough of a challenge for that many people. But they did like it and would go again. They had a Groupon so it did not cost as much as it would normally. Not sure which one they went to.
A group of 8 of us went to one in the Poconos - we had a great time - we also had a groupon, but the guys who ran it stated next time we wanted to come, just call them and they would give us a discount price.....
Morristown has a escape room called Trap door. I have not gone I have friends that have went and said it was a lot of fun. I believe it's across the street from the Hyatt. I myself have gone to Monclair to an escape room it was challenging and fun.
I've been to all 3 at Wharton Scarehouse. Lots of fun. Can't wait to try the others. Bridgewater has one coming in March. Look for Groupon for Scarehouse or on Facebook for discount code. I only went with 1 other person. A group of 4 would be good size.
Have fun!
Went to the one in Morristown- it was fun and very challenging. A group of 6 adults could not figure it all out.
I haven't been to one, but friends at work have gone to the one in Montclair. They both had a good time. Also, please keep checking Groupon for tickets, my friends both got tickets from there.
Go to the one in PA. It was awesome! The one in Montclair was an interesting experience....
Groupon has a deal today for extra amount off with code OFF. I used it to get the Empire room escape deal in Fairfield today.
I did 2. One in montclair and one in Morristown. And I am addicted. Both times we had 6-8 people. My friends and I are between 27-32 years old and both times we could not escape. We had a blast!!!!! They are fun and challenging and something different to do on a night out!!! Highly recommend. Check out "last minute escape" on google.
Escape rooms are soooo fun. I've done them in Montclair, Morristown, and NYC right near Little Italy. All were a blast. We got out of each one but had a group of anywhere from 9-12. We did one as part of my bachelorette party and it was so fun. I highly recommend them!!
I don't know of one in Easton PA, but I do have friends that have gone to the o e in Bethlehem. They all enjoyed it, I think there are two different 'courses'.
There are a lot more of these around then I thought...not sure why I haven't tried it yet lol! We are going to the one in Wharton next weekend.....I'll report back afterwards;)
Just went to one in Bartonsville. Almost escaped! Wharton ones were the best so far.
Are any of these open now? I thought the one in Wharton was only open around Halloween.
They are all open now. Wharton does it all year, but the guy told me they might move so go soon. They are really good, but do have Halloween theme. I went 2x to Wharton ones in Jan. Bridgewater just opened this Month.
Check wherever you go on Facebook. Sometimes coupon codes.
After reading about these on here, and amazed that everyone seemed to agree they were fun- my wife and I went to the 'Myan Temple' last night in Morristown.
We were with 4 other people. There was so much to see and do that it kept us all busy and well entertained.
Not only definitely worth the time and effort to go- but now we are going to go to all the other places. I can see this being an enjoyable thing to 'collect them all'.
I noticed one of these in Madison a couple weeks ago. It's down a little alley (Waverly Lane) a couple blocks from Main Street. http://escaperoomnj.com/
My family is cruising on NCL in December and I just learned they put an escape room on the ship. Looking forward to trying it.
Oops! Forgot to come back to say how it went:) We had a good time! Didn't get out, but had fun trying to find all of the clues. It was definitely more challenging than I thought (which is good) We will most likely try another one now that we've seen how it works!
Loved the one in Montclair. We had a group of 7 and made it out just in time! Total adrenaline rush!
I only heard about these a couple of weeks ago. They sound awesome. Glad it was posted here
Guys, are there any funny quests? The quests that are not scary and stressful, and not very difficult? We are a company of a father, a mother, and a 14-year old daughter. We have been only to virtual quest Gravitation. It was funny but not interesting at all. Primitive and illogical tasks. What do you think about https://labyrintoom.berlin ? Is it too scary? They say the quest takes an hour. Now I want just to have some fun. I want just to relax and not to overload my brains. Are there such quests?
While traveling up to Newton I noticed an escape room house on the left (Southbound side) of Rt. 206 in Andover, just in case anyone's still looking for a place. Didn't do any research on them though, just saw them while passing by a few months ago & thought I'd mention it.
vondes vondes
Good luck on your quest to find a good and appropriate quest!
PhilD, I think Newton might be a bit of a drive for vondes vondes, considering that the escape room being considered (Labyrintoom) is in Berlin, Germany (-;

Yes, I'd noticed that, which is why I'd put the note for them at the bottom after their name;-)
Since the thread had come up though, I thought I'd mention the one I'd seen first, for our general Hackettstown-local public, since Andover is just a short ride up Rt 517 and a little on 206 to get there.
Since I had the time, I checked them out online. Here's their website and facebook page:

By the way, the map on their facebook page is incorrect for some reason. That shows them to be N. of Newton past the Rt. 206/15 merge. which is incorrect, especially given their address.
There is a good one in Madison - kids and adults all had fun. https://www.yelp.com/biz/escape-room-nj-madison-madison
I have done one of the escape rooms at Rockaway Mall but didn't care for it. Too much 'mall' noise.
Will look into the one on Rt. 206.
