Oxy motorcross track/chevron property ?
Vaguely remember this from my youth, hoping someone could fill in the blanks on the history of the property.
Off waterloo I remember Oxy and back riding there in the late 80's trucks lined up and down the road unloading bikes to go riding. Mount olive police would drive through and do nothing. ..the two 'separate' sand pits...good times..that sand was pulverized into a powder by the time they stopped letting people ride there. Went back there on my XL about 20 yrs ago all overgrown a mess

Oxy Chemical used to own the property off Waterloo Road down the dirt road which was the immediate left over the railroad tracks heading out of town towards Stanhope . Never rode a dirt bike there , but went to a few outdoor nighttime parties there .

Oxy is what they called the track, Chevon is something I remember it being called , there was a chain link fence around a lot of it and I remember some kind of block structure there also.
I see. I hadn't heard of that area. I grew up in Stanhope and rode extensively from the mid-70s through the mid 80s. All over the area that is now the former BASF property as well as the ITC property. I never really ventured all the way down that end of Waterloo road. I wish I knew, as I always enjoyed a new place to ride!
If Oxy Chemical owned that property, beware of possible toxic chemical dumping in the area.
Your talking about the sand pits in saxton falls.. They got closed down in the 90s cause someone got killed... Oxy was a diffrent track that was a old contaminated chemical plant off bilby rd... U could also get there on the left of rr tracks going past stevens state park heading towards byrum. We used to ride there in the 90s but was def tresspassing by then... The old saxton falls pits were turned over to the state and are all grown in. U dont want to get caught any where near there even on a dual sport unless u want to get harassed by park police... That whole mt on the other side of the pits that stretches to bud lake used to be our riding trails. Now its mt biker trails
Pyronics property use to be on the left just prior to rail road tracks. U could get on tracks and ride thru trade zone property their was property up by windham garden hotel u could ride, also Kenvil pits. They use to run a Hare scramble through saxon falls n power lines from my. Olive .
I remember the old abandoned Oxy Chemical property just off of Waterloo Road. It was an interesting place to explore. At one time there was a large cinder block building on the property. There was a road that came off of Bilbys Road that extended through the Oxy property and exited near the railroad tracks. There was also a tunnel that went from the Oxy property and ended near the railroad tracks. People started to stay away from the Oxy property after three youths lit a fire near an old barrel at Oxy and were severely burned.
