Big Weiner In The Hackettstown Area Today!! 7/10

The iconic Oscar Mayer Weinermobile will be here today!

"This one of a kind vehicle will be at the Walmart parking lot at 1885 NJ-57, in Hackettstown, from 1 - 4 p.m."

Attending, lol :) Wonder if they will be selling them

I saw that about 20 years ago rolling down the road in the Morristown area. Loads of fun.

Too cool!! Stop by get a whistle.

We just went to get pictures and a weenie whistle like the one that Judge Reinhold received in the Santa Clause. It was worth the trip just for the whistle.

Saw it. Loved it. There are actually six of them that go across the country. Nice to see it locally.

That was fun.

I saw the Weiner Mobile at WALMART. Out of whistles by 4:30.

The pictures turned out great.

Never seen this before. It was worth the trip!

I saw it too. Very cool. Got a whistle but indeed had to ask for one.
They were kind of stingy with them. They were in their (2) aprons not being handed out, etc. But I secured one nonetheless.
The mobile was awesome though- it was so neat to see that the dashboard was actually shaped like hotdogs on the rounded parts of the actual dashboard.

I will upload pictures shortly if possible.

Gotta like the license plate- RELISHME. LOL

It seemed as though the young lady was more eager to give them out. They were both very personable representatives, though since the young lady had no connections to the area, she seemed more happy to share her knowledge of the Weinermobile. Made me go to Willie's afterwards for a couple of Sauer Willies with brown mustard;-)

I agree Phil. The young lady from Austin was very personable. She was also quite knowledgeable about the Big "WM". I even quizzed her about the chassis and other components of the Wienermobile LOL. Frankly I thought the whistles were just for children but as you noted she was quick to offer us whistles as well.
A nice little diversion today. How many times do you get to look at a 27 ft hot dog that you can drive your friends around in LOL!

Maybe they were trying to save most of them for kids. I wouldn't be too hard on the weiner people. No pun intended.

When I was there, there was a man that was extremely friendly to all and volunteered to take photos and so on. I think everyone enjoyed themselves.

Yes, there are normally two co-drivers. The guy was from Colorado, but he taught in Blairstown for 2 or 3 years, so he knew the local area. The lady was from Austin, Texas. They both were fairly recent college graduates and had to go through a very extensive application, vetting and interview process in order to become drivers. When I was talking with him, he said it was built on a Chevy RV chassis and despite its size (11' tall and 27' long) it had a good turning radius, since the wheelbase wasn't exceptionally long. The body is fairly lightweight too.

Always exciting to see! The last time, about 1977, we saw it was driving past Leo's, and we showed him our chili dogs as we shouted encouragement. We got a wave, but no premiums. Do they sell shirts and other wearable/reusable condiments to promote Oscar off the truck?

OEP. They do not but if you hit their website you can get some goodies.

I was thinking a hot dog cart at each location would do well and be fun. I was thinking along the lines of prior to each appearance they could contact a local civic organization like an American Legion, or the Boy Scouts for example. Have the product donated to them and they could sell it at the event as a fundraising effort. Just a thought as I was really wanting one while there! LOL

Greg

That's why I went to Willie's afterwards, lol.

Actually, if you go to their main website, you can either check their schedule, which updates every 2 weeks, or request a visit for an event at https://www.oscarmayer.com/wienermobile

You'd probably have to supply your own dogs though, or perhaps get in touch with someone at their corporate headquarters to see if they do such a thing.

Re: Big Weiner In The Hackettstown Area Today!! 7/10

You can have your own Weinermobile in a diecast model. Did sprawl mart have Oscar Meyer hotdogs on sale when the Weinermobile was there? Did they offer a coupon or discount during the promotion?
