Hyundai in town.

I'm at the Hyundai dealership in Denvile and was told the Hackettstown Hyundai dealership is going to be renovated and re- open. The Denvile dealership is being renovated now.
Hope it's true.

This was posted here in December, 2022:
"The application proposing the remodel and expansion of the previously closed Hyundai car dealership will be heard by the Washington Township Zoning Board next week.....The applicant, 28 & 40 Route 46 LLC, intends to expand the existing car dealership building and use it solely for automobile service....In accordance with a prior approval for that property, the applicant intends to reuse the old lot as a new Hyundai car dealership...."

I would've like to have seen a Mazda dealership, but that's just me.

There is no evidence of any activity at the site. PS: Phil I believe that is just you!

I was at the Hyundai dealership in Denville a few weeks ago and was told the same. Opening inHackettstown tentatively scheduled for 2024

EVV

There are more Hyundai's around than us Zoom-Zoom folks, but the nearest dealer for us is either Morristown or Easton:-(

I know someone who works for Hyundai Corp. and said, yes it will reopen eventually.

Phil, I meant just you for your desire for a Mazda agency. They are good driving cars but never recovered general acceptance after their turbo engine failure in the mid seventies. Just my opinion. (Yes, hyundai is the logical agency for this area.)

Yes, I understood what you meant. My question was essentially rhetorical, as I know there are a good number of Mazda owners in the area. I see them all the time, including some twins to my current one, as well as my last one.

If you Google both makes "near Hackettstown", you get a triangle that shows essentially Eastern Morris Cty., Phillipsburg/Easton, and Stroudsburg. We're just about right in the middle, showing it's a perfect location for either dealer. Mazdas just aren't quite as numerous as Hyundai's are from what I've observed, so yes, I agree that Hyundai is the logical agency for the area in terms of numbers

It's too bad there aren't as many hybrid/mixed dealerships, like good old Grecco Lincoln/Mercury/Mazda. Funny thing is, Ford owned a good portion of Mazda up until maybe 5-10 years ago and shared a number of platforms and engine selections, though it seemed the Mazda auto trans worked better.

Perhaps you're correct in the assumption that older buyers might still associate Mazda with the Wankel Rotary engine, which essentially doomed the RX-8, due to emissions and poor relative mpg, and just never seemed to really catch on. It's still used in many of their race vehicles, and will be used as the gas part of the new MX-30 plug in hybrid model, but most of their vehicles have been "normal" 4-cycle engines for many years. They just don't seem to do the advertising that Hyundai and others do to try to increase their market share.
