Was there an Old Mill once on route 57 behind the storage units

I realize this is Hackettstown life but since our ZIP code is for Hackettstown. I have question? I have a storage unit at Mansfield storage on Rt 57. My unit is close to what looks like a man-made diversion of the river and I saw some old barn wood? Does anyone have any history on what use to be there maybe an Old Mill? I'm guessing many many years ago. What's left of it is a pretty cool structure I wouldn't recommend walking on the wood but it's a very powerful movement of water.
Thank you for any information.

Storage units by Wells Fargo - there was a chemical company there

Cooke Color & Chemical (I believe)

Those storage units (built around 87') are built on the old Hatfield Wire and Cable Company. They had a dam across the river to turn equipment in the factory.

Yes, Cooke Color & Chemical was there. My ex-husband worked there back in the late 60's. The man who owns that storage facility, Mr. Shoop, (if he still does?) would know a lot of the back history.

If my mind serves me right at my age there was a small old cub/boy scout camp somewhere in that area. Had a few small cabins. I remember camping there when I was a scout.

Thank to all! I just find it interesting how things can crumble and fall or be torn down but yet something is always left behind to make you question what was there?

Many years ago a grain mill was located there using the Musconetcong River as water power .

That's what I thought because there's old barn wood flooring still there so the other comments the buildings would have been newer but I'm seeing old barn wood.
