Cell Carrier Reccos - Verizon vs ATT
Hi,
Trying to get some sort of survey here. We are in the "mountains" of Panther Valley and I am trying to see again if I should switch from Verizon to another carrier like ATT. We have had Verizon for so long but it is getting expensive. They are offering ne plans and thinking I can use that and it will lower our monthly then found out it only applies to new lines!
My question here is anyone lives in this neck of the woods or any other high area of Allamuchy, Hackettstown, Great Meadows, Liberty, etc how is ATT in service? i looked at older forums but I did not find any of this topic and if there is one it maybe older.
Any input is greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance!
If you are happy with Verizon but not the price check visible. I pay $25 per month per line with unlimited data. Very happy with the service as it’s Verizon’s network.

I had Verizon but my service kept cutting out and I didn’t like all the hidden taxes, service fees, line maintenance fees etc. Several years ago I switched to Metro by T-Mobile. One price for unlimited text, talk and data and all taxes are included. Very happy with reception too. Maybe consider getting away from the “big” guys. All the off-shoot companies use their towers any way
Try Consumer Cellular. Don't live in Panther Valley, but my CC service has never let us down, and we do travel in US a lot. Unlimited calls and data $37, and husband's phone is just $15 additional. Just a suggestion.
I live in Liberty. I have ATT and have a strong signal, even can make calls from in the basement in the house. Wife has Verizon, can get barely a signal or no signal in the house at all.
Thank you for the input/feedback! I will look into Visible and Consumer Cellular too as well as T-Mobile.
@local Gal, are you in the area here and so far even of you travel in sort of wooded or mountainous areas, reception is good?
I would assume by now receptions from any of these carriers are better than several years ago,
thank you again!
Verizon is the only company I’ve used (and I’ve had a bunch) that works everywhere I go. Even places that are known to be dead cell areas like the outer banks, Yosemite, the Everglades and VT. Everywhere people tell me cell service is sketchy, Verizon works. I’m not sure if it’s still this way, but 8-10 years ago ATT was known as the company with horrible reception. Also, it’s worth mentioning that the particular phone itself may have better/worse reception than another make and model.

@SoccerMom
I’m in Panther Valley in a VERY wooded and hilly area and reception is excellent.
Keep in mind, I have “Metro by T-Mobile “ (used toe be called Metro PCS). Not to be confused with “T-Mobile” which is way more expensive.
I just switched from metro PC s.

Cricket wireless is AT&T network
Had great reception up in the rural polconos where I never had it b4. Mostly 5g

@Local Gal, thank you for the additional information,
@Jimt1058, someone mentioned cricket to me as well so I will check it out too!
@everyone, Thank you all so much for the input. I will certainly do my portion to review all of these carriers to ensure I am able to pick whatbis best. Really looking into lowering down our bill and same time not sacrifice reception. I will keep you all posted!
P.S. I should have named this post Cell Carrier recommendations
I had AT&T service while living in Great Meadows; just down the road from PV. Never had a problem.
I noticed Visible mentioned. Has anyone else tried them? I know its owned by Verizon as a subsidiary. So you would think same coverage? I pay $105 a month for two phones and 4gb data with Verizon and would like an unlimited plan. Yet everything they offer is about $40 more a month with all charges.

I used to have Verizon in PV and had horrible reception. Calls got dropped and text messages failed a lot.
Mint mobile is T-Mobile MVNO you can try for 3 months @ 15/month - unlimited.
Maybe it works for your situation.
