essence of india
Sunday was the first day open. Great meal very fresh and tasty. I give it five stars.
Newton got its first Indian restaurant 2years ago and it is always busy. Here in Hackettstown people are afraid of Indian cuisine. Indian food can be enjoyed by anyone who is brave enough to try it Recipes range from mild to hot and the flavors of spice is a delight. We had an excellent Indian restaurant here in Hackettstown but ignored its existence a few years ago. I wish the new restaurant all the best and will frequently dine there or get takeout. Now it's up to Hackettstown to at least give them a chance
I'm glad to hear this -- I feel a need for Indian food now and then. Their website doesn't mention the hours. Anybody know?

While I get your drift... it took me years to get my father in law to try Thai finally... some people's concerns aren't just about 'different' food....
Some other cultures...don't clean / prep their foods the same as others..and may over-sauce to hide lesser pieces.....
I'm 99% sure the other Indian restaurant n Main St didn't last as it wasn't a sit down experience and maybe lacked atmosphere and consistency- not due to people uninterested in the cuisine. A lot of dishes are so much better eating in vs packaging sauces, rice, etc separately for takeout.
Hoping to try the new place this weekend - attaching their hours from google

I am planning on going this weekend. I do travel to Flanders often for the Indian Restaurant there… which is very good the staff is very helpful but want the option of a place closer so I am crossing my fingers.
Went last week for dinner and the food was delicious and the staff was wonderful.

I will checking out their Butter Chicken (chicken makhani). Should be great (I hope) !
Yes the staff is extremely friendly. Stepped in to make some inquiries. It’s amazing how many different breads they have on the menu.

Went just got back from Essence. It was very good. Delicious food, excellent service. The Paneer is absolutely delicious. Best I've had in our area. We had Korma Paneer, chicken vindaloo, samosa chaat & the honey chili cauliflower w/garlic Naan (yes we had a lot of leftovers lol) I wish this place luck and hope they are very successful!
My wife and I finally made it to Indian Essence last night. Everything was really good, and the staff was great. So incredibly happy to have them in town.
I noted they have a third party doing deliveries. Anyone use it. It's called chownow.
I use doordash, they seem just ok. if the order screws up, it's hit or miss whether it's corrected for that meal or whether a refund/credit, but that's the worst of it.
