Old BASF Property buyer??
So the Major of Mt. Olive says:
Scapicchio said a “major pharmaceutical company” has narrowed down the 97-acre tract to one of two sites being considered in the region. He would not identify the company but said he expects a decision by the end of the month.
So any rumors who the company is??

what really...i find interesting...BASF...built that huge complex...bought and exchanged properties...and then they walk away...and leave the complex...empty...i drive by that place everyday...it is heated and maintained...but empty...what a huge waste...
It is most likely Bayer as I know someone in the company that is on the committee. However, I have heard that they are not too thrilled with the ITC area and are still looking for alternative locations in northern NJ.
Any updated rumors on this? The mayor said he expects a decision by the end of the month.

BASF walked away because Mount Olive was raping them on taxes year after year.
My source at Bayer says the town of Wayne is now the front runner in their search.
Rumors were that Executives at Bayer were seriously talking abt ITC - Town of Wayne is in contention - as are few other locations...
Thats from my source at Bayer!
Still not definative - http://www.dailyrecord.com/article/20110404/NJNEWS01/110404008/Bayer-unit-consolidating-N-J-adding-500-jobs?odyssey=tab|topnews|text|FRONTPAGE

Hmm...adding 500 jobs too. I may have to brush up the resume. The 1 hour commute has gotten stale.
i passed by there tonight...the place was all lit up inside...it usually dark at nite
Good Morning.
The Mayors from Mount Olive and around Morris County should be knocking on the Doors of Bayer and kissing their as$@* to get them to the BASF HQ's and not waiting for them to to tell you where they are going.
Get busy and give them breaks to get them to Mt. Olive.
Good luck.
Dave.
that is what they did for BASF,as soon as the tax breaks and perks were over they left town.
I am hoping that Bayer takes the property. It would shorten my commute a great deal. They want to consoldate all their sites into one. I have heard that the powers-that-be located in Berlin may have indicated that the BASF site is too far from Newark Airport. So, we will just wait and see. I am searching for updates. But I have heard from Stanhope locals that Bayer did indeed acquire the facility.

Bayer was suppossed to announce new location last week, but got held up by a glitch in negotiations.
Possible locations are Mount Olive, Parsippany, Morristown, Morris Plains and Whippany.
I wish they would stop dragging their feet. A lot of people are very anxious to find out.
Bayer needs 850,000 sq feet. BASF offer 975,000 sq feet including multi layer parking garages on a very large campus.
Heard from a good source a company who will be doing the fit up for the new Bayer building it is in Parsippany. They have signed.
with the luck of this area they will staff the bayer office from out side the usa .

Q1 of 09??? Nope. It's here and now. And when they do lift it, the hiring of locals will depend upon their skill set.
UPDATE:
Bayer is moving to Parsippany.
Apparently, the BASF building has been vacant for sooooooooo long that there is severe pipe damage from rust. Bayer balked at the building because of the cost of repairs.
So.... the wait is over.
Is the BASF building at 200 Int'l Drive. The Daily Record 9/16/11 reported that site is now leased to Bosal USL auto parts.

I actually heard Obama's Solyndra had bought the place & they have "shovel ready jobs"...

No rumor as far as I know.
Just information that has been passed around here. We are moving to Parsippany from what I hear. Either way, it has to be a nicer facility than Wayne.
We are pleased to announce that Bayer has signed a contingent purchase agreement for its new BHC US East Coast headquarters. The site is located at 67 Whippany Road in Whippany, NJ - less than 3 miles from Bayer Consumer Care’s Morristown site. It is accessible off Route 10 and is convenient to Routes 287, 24, 46 and 80.
The site is situated on 93 acres of land zoned for a private office complex and has existing vacant office buildings that will be completely retrofitted to suit our specific needs to total 662,000 square feet. This location presents us with a great deal of flexibility and space to create a tailored headquarters office that will meet the future needs of our growing business.
The signing of this agreement is a major milestone in the site selection process. We now enter into the due diligence phase, which includes a number of activities such as title searches, environmental inspections, and a host of other steps that need to take place before we successfully complete that phase of the process. This process can take two months or more to complete.
We are optimistic that the due diligence phase will be completed quickly and successfully to our satisfaction, but as we’ve seen in recent months, a number of things could potentially present challenges to this process. For this reason we are continuing to pursue other options in parallel. The closing on the site will take place after successful completion of due diligence and receipt of construction approvals, at which time we plan a public announcement with the NJ Governor’s office.
In terms of the timing of moves, the negotiation process has clearly taken longer than we had anticipated and depending on when we close, timelines for first moves will need to be adjusted. While we will be in a better position to provide more information on timelines after we complete due diligence, we expect moves to start no earlier than mid-2013.
