Duluth Trading Company

Has anyone ever bought anything from here. I heard a commercial for them on the radio, something about fire hose material work pants etc. So I checked out their website. There is a really nice looking work vest that I was thinking of buying for Horatio. Was wondering if anybody was familiar with the quality of their products. The reviews on their website are great, but you know they only put the good ones on. LOL

Also, guys would you like this vest if you did a lot of outdoor work?

Here is the vest:

Yes, my husband loves their stuff. He actually asked for one of the vests for Christmas (not the one you posted), and it will be delivered Monday for Santa to wrap. :)

The pros on the forum at finehomebuilding.com all give duluth good reviews. I trust the opinions on that site since those guys are all skilled pros and blunt when they don't like something.

I have purchased several things over the years from Duluth - especially a lot of their fire hose items for my father and husband. The stuff is great - very high quality. Totally worth the $. Makes for a great Christmas present!

Also, if you get on their email list, you can get some good deals...

Filson stuff may be nice, but holy moly, no wonder people prefer to buy cheaper stuff made in China...

$30 for a plain color T-shirt... $198 for a pair of jeans?

I buy American when the price difference is worth it, if it's a heavy use item (like good tools), or the Chinese product is so cheap that it's obviously crap. But seriously... why would I pay 8 times as much for some article of clothing?

It can't be THAT much more expensive to make clothing here, and companies that are so overpriced just rub me the wrong way because it seems like their only reason for the price difference is the USA label, not necessarily the quality of the goods. Plus "Made in USA" could legally just mean that they sewed the buttons on something that was 99% foreign and imported in an unfinished state.

Up to 25% to 50% premium? It's worth a look to see if the USA quality is better. 800% premium? No contest, I'm going cheap.

(Sorry to hijack the thread - My point is, the Duluth stuff looks good, gets good reviews, and is reasonably priced relative to the other brand(s) mentioned).

they look very nice but,how do you by clothes or shoes online? my wife buys for herself and the kids online. But even when I try on something at the store it doesnt always fit when I go to wear it. That whole size thing is wacky those numbers mean nothing. I own shoes in 3 different sizes that all fit the same. Levis thats a joke cant buy them with out tryin on 4 pairs all the same size and then picking the one pair that fits. I so hate to buy clothes for that reason. Oh yeh and if you have long arms somtimes just cant find a shirt that fits that isnt also a dress on you.

Can't believe I can't find flannel lined denim shirts.................gggrrrrr

Technically speaking, the Salvation Army store is in *East* Stroudsburg. (Go Cavs!)

Thanks!

Vests are the best when working outdoors when working with power tools (ie chainsaws, circular saws, etc) The vest keeps the torso warm without sleeves getting caught up in the moving parts of the item you are working with. Very good choice for Horatio!

GC - Thanks for the logistical correction.

John C - Yes, he prefers vests as sleeves tend to inhibit movement and get caught on stuff.

Is this the company that has the "extra" patch at the crotch for the guys? Saw that commercial the other day and had to rewind it for the laugh value:)

Horatio absolutely loves his new vest. He has it on today. Thanks again for the input.

Calico - No problem, for a native *IT MATTERS*. Does this mean next Turkey Day, you'll dress in purple, take a trip over there to the ESHS field, and yell/scream/hoot/holler "Go Cavs!!!"??? Now that would be a game!

PS. I couldn't imagine Horatio not just being thrilled with it. ;-)
