He is not my Cairn, but I have one. If his home is not found and he gets along well with
others, we would love to have him.
I have Hannah the wheaton colored Cairn, she loves other dogs and plays well. If he likes long walks and some play, with a good nap., that would be great. Hannah is almost 8, but still active! She gets great food, continuing medical check ups, heart worm prevention as well as Flea & Tick prevention. I would offer the new member the same advantages.
Of course if his family is found that would be wonderful, and the best outcome.
Hannah herself came from a "hoarders" home, but as a very little puppy, under a pound. The owner had 36 untrained Cairns. I was lucky to get her out as a puppy.
Our family would be heartbroken if Hannah were lost.
Please keep us in mind.

Susan, I would suggest you call the vet at the # above......I thought I read that he was taken to the place on Rt 46 outside of Hackettstown.....the place owned by Tim something....definitely call yourself if he is there.....not sure what happens after the hold period.

Dear Susan, Vivian & Hannah
Hello and thank you for the offer. As of 2pm today, still no owner came forward. The Vet is Dr. Shatto on rt 46 East. 908 852 3515
You can call him and perhaps visit the little dog with your pets to see the result.
the dog was very friendly and adoreable. He seemed well tempered BUT the Vet folks can tell you better because they have been caring for him all week. They told me he is a very sweet dog and if the owner does not come forward, they would be trying to seek a home for him. The Animal control was notified and other authorities in hopes the owner would come forward. But no luck yet.
Please give them a call and let us know what happens.
thanks for your kindness!!

If nobody comes forward to adopt him, he could be posted as a courtesy listing on the Pet Adoption League website at www.palpets.org.

I spoke with Leah at the very kind vets office of Dr. Shatto. She offered much info about the lost Cairn Terrier. She was so helpful letting me know that he was aprox 12 yrs young, very friendly with people and other dogs. Since Leah started calling him, Toto, we will stay with that.
I will pick him up Monday, he sounds like he will fit right in. I do imagine there will be an adjustment for Hannah, Toto and my aunt.
Leah told me what he has been eating and I think I will mix that with what Hannah eats now. I thought I would walk each in
Individualy, then hopefully transfer to a splitter.
If anyone has advise or ideas I would appreciate any positive information.
Hannah has always played well with others, and will
Snuggle up and sleep with Tiki at my groomers.
I feel blessed to take Toto as my last dog died suddenly at age 6. Toto will have some good years ahead of him.

Aw, so nice. Put a smile on my face. Please post how he does and include pictures.

A good day

Thanks Susan, I was told he was about 9 yrs young BUT maybe that changed. Maybe take one of your pets to be SURE they will get along. You would not want to take himhome and have problems. That is my advice. I have seen folks bring their pets to meet the new guy or gl and it aways works great. I myself did hte same thing. I know you will love him. I was only with him for about 30 minutes and fell in love with him.
thanks again, good luck and God Bless you and your little family!!

This is why I just love Hackettstown life!!

Just for a update. Prior to picking up "Toto" on Monday, I called Garden State, to confirm a time with Leah. I was told by another
employee that he was being adopted by someone who worked in the office.
I was very dissapointed, but happy still that Toto has a good home. He must be a terrific, sweet Cairn Terrier!
Sometimes things are meant to be, and I am sure he will be very happy with his new family. That is the most important part of this outcome.

that does not seem right :( Happy the dog is getting a home but it sounds like your adoption was set, no?

Thanks for the update. I can understand your disappointment. It seems as though someone should have called you from the vet's office letting you know of the change of plans for him, rather than let you get your hopes up. I do hope he has a good home.

Just heard that you were not taking Toto. I am sorry. Not sure what happened there. I thought it was a done deal. I think the Dog Warden had something to do with it and I am not sure why they did not call you.
Glad to hear he got a good home but sad that you did not get him. It just seemed like it would have worked out. Thanks again and God Bless you for at least trying.

I would be livid it everything was set and I don't even get a phone call. I would call and ask to speak to Leah. You deserve an explanation.

I did think everything was all set, according to Leah. We were looking forward to having him come home with us.I called her Saturday morning, but was working until 4PM. The plan was for me to pick him up on Monday.
I am glad he has a good home. I don't understand what the dog warden would have a problem with.
I was going to make sure his immunizations were up to date and get him a license,in Allamuchy. Perhaps they were being very careful, that he was indeed going to a good, safe home.
