Found orange cat
A very friendly orange cat (believe it's female)kept meowing and following my boyfriend down the street in the valentine st area today. No collar or tags. He figured that it was a neighborhood cat and was going to leave her, but then he she started drinking from a puddle and he noticed she was a little matted so he decided to err on the side of caution and take her. If rhis is your cat please let me know so we can make arrangements to return her. Thanks!
I hope that you find his/her owner - thank you for being caring and taking him/her in...
Brown bear, lol, yes that's the reason! He's just too irrisistible, females of any species just cannot resist him ;) We thought its a girl by looking under the tail, the old fashioned way lol. But...there's a lot of hair so it's hard to tell. (I'm sure there's a joke there somewhere)
Someone pm'd me about it last night so hopefully we have the owner, just waiting for them to provide their address so we can drop em back...they asked that we let the cat out on the street so they could return home and I'm not comfortable with that as their was no contact info provided and it could have just been someone trolling me.
Jackie789 I think you did the right thing by not just letting her back out.
I for one would NOT have asked that if she were my cat. I would have been on my over to you right away to pick her up.
You are an awesome person to take her in and try to find her owner.
I would not trust anyone who just said "put the cat back out" especially when it was matted and drinking out of puddles. That's assuming it is their cat at all.
You can take her to a vet to get her scanned for a microchip to see if she has an owner.
If you'd like PAL can share this on our adoption page to help get word out if she hasn't been claimed yet. You can post and we'll make sure to share it.

I would find a rescue group to take the cat and find it a good home. If returned to its 'home' it will probably be put outside again.
If the cat was outside chances are it's an indoor/outdoor cat like many others in the area. The cat could certainly find her way back home if you let it back out. Not sure why you would insist on a personal drop off? The person that emailed you is probably wondering why you need to know exactly where they live when the cat was not "missing" just roaming around as usual. I am also curious why you think someone would take the time to email and say this was their cat if it wasn't? Just because a cat drinks from a puddle doesn't mean it's homeless. My dog lives inside with an adequate supply of fresh water daily yet still wants to drink from the toilet, deck, puddles, and any other standing body of water. They are animals...it happens.
If that were my cat, I would definitely make a point to come get it or have it dropped off- regardless of if it was an indoor/outdoor cat. I did have an indoor/outdoor cat and while I'm sure he drank from puddles, his fur was never matted because we took care of him. I'm glad you listened to your gut and didn't set the cat loose. Hope she finds home soon.
That cat is lucky to have found you.I would of done the same thing. If someone is looking for her they will post it.
the email was probably from the woman over there that recently got fined/arrested? for not providing for her pets properly. She always insisted people let the cats they find back outside. Maybe call the ACO to see if anybody reported their cat missing. Thank you for helping this cat :)
I am happy to report that the cat is doing well. He is now in the hands of a local rescue organization who is providing veterinary care and will work on re-homing him once he is cleared. He is a great little cat who deserves a loving home. He is very sweet, great with dogs, and good in the house, so I am sure he will find one quickly. Thanks for all your concern and kind words.
I've seen that cat many times. I used to live in the area of Valentine St (earlier this year) and I am fairly positive I also know who pm'd you. Yes - this was the woman who was recently fined by the ASPCA and had her animals seized. She also has many outdoor (some feral I believe) cats that roam the neighborhood and come to her for food. Situation is out of control. I would say if the cat looks unwell to you - please don't just let it back out and reconsider handing it over.... looks like she needs some TLC
Relieved to hear this cat has been taken in and cared for - thank you Jackie. More people are needed like you. I am still wondering what happened to Oreo, the cat over around Warren Village, seemed like so many people worried about him but nothing done.
