Best burger
I was sad to see Burger King close. What's everyone's choice for best burger in the area?
Make your own, or get the Sunshine Burger. Absolutely delicious!

Marly's, their menu for handheld meat sandwich combos are the most flavorful around here, try the roast beef burger!
For best anywhere, Chubbs in Chicago, my first real meal after 8 weeks of steam tray food, it was a life experiance.
You might want to review the older threads about burgers. There are several discussions, although the one that was specifically about the best burger is so old as to be closed now:

There are some good ones around, the old discussion about "Brian's" should now move over to "The Grove". It says a lot that the thread is so long all the trials and tribulations went on in between. But still some great burgers.
The most surprising place to get a great burger in town is Pandan. Seriously. Try it.
Best fry and burger combo is Humpty Jr in Delaware. Order cajun fries and a chili cheddar burger with jalapenos - extra sloppy. And then watch them cringe when you say "to go". ;-)
But the best of all for only $5 is a BLT cheeseburger with everything on it every other Friday night at the Legion. It's exactly like you do one yourself at home on the grill.
I wish Marley's never discovered the pretzel bun. That's not a bad burger but I just can't get past that bun.
I found Humpty's via HL and agree that Humpty's is quite good although I tend to like the regular vs. grass-fed better. Not supposed to be that way but.... Great shakes and ice cream too.
Still willing to make the drive to the west side of Stroudsburg for Five Guys even if it means being beached on the couch for the rest of the day getting over it :>)
strangerdanger - You do know Five Guys in Denville is closer, right? Love their fries. And I'll just leave it at that.
Budd Lake Burger Company on 46 makes a pretty good burger, and is much like fast food. Otherwise, marleys, diner, or Black Stones on 46 west.
Gronsky's Milk House actually makes a damn fine burger. Don't forget the onion rings...
I don't eat beef, but everyone in my area raves about the burgers from Ciao Pizzeria & Burger Co. on Route 57 in Broadway. Or is it New Village ianimal? LOL They grind their own fresh meat daily.

It's a bit of a drive, but the new BGR in South Orange is worth the trip.
I haven't tried the new burger recipe at Bea McNally's, but I've heard good things!
Around here, Taphouse Grill. If you are ever in Morristown, best burger I ever had is from the Committed Pig.
Haven't found anything great in town, but Mt Olive Burger Co was amazing https://www.facebook.com/MountOliveBurgerCo/
I agree the Burgers at Gronsky's Milk House in High Bridge are really good. I also like their homemade Chips! Lunchtime it's hard to get a seat!
You three guys are killing me, literally, with announcements of Five Guys locations ;>)
Along with my Southern Burger, I make a great Smash-Burger too. It's easier. Just need clean hands.
Allies Cafe in Washington makes a great veggie burger (and the fries are to die for)
It's not on the main menu but she often has it as a daily special. She even made it for me once when it wasn't on the special of the day.

happiest - No offense meant, I don't eat beef either, but I would assume those asking about burgers would be wanting suggestions for a beef burger, not a veggie burger.
Maybe some people, but not all, calico.
Burger doesn't just mean beef.
At Allies there is a turkey burger on the menu --- maybe you would like that.

If its not meat its not a burger its a patty. Washington Diner makes a nice one for the price.
I was at 25 Burgers in Flemington today. OMG, it was great and the bacon cheese fries were heavenly. Bit of a drive from here, but I pass by that area a lot and will be returning...often.
Calico I have to try Ciao's burgers since it's close to me, however my husband tried the pizza and will never go back.
I like Wendy's burgers and the Washington Diner's burgers.
Unfortunately it's in CA but, In-N-Out has been the best I've had so far. Have to try 25 burgers....
MB I saw that too but I go through the Flemington circle quite often - either way too far to go for dinner, but if they're looking to expand, I'm sure Hackettstown would welcome it.
There is a 25 Burgers in Fairfield before you get to Willowbrook Mall (on Fairfield Road)
Had the "Black and Blue" burger at Gronsky's for lunch yesterday... 8-oz burger blackened with Cajun seasoning and topped with about 3/4 of an inch of quality crumbled bleu cheese. I figured the Cajun spin was fitting for Fat Tuesday and it didn't disappoint...
And you cleared up that little personal health problem that's been nagging you :>)
Best burger??! Hands down the brisket burger at James on Main topped with cheddar cheese, bacon and a sunny-side-up egg!!!

positive - I agree that Ciao's pizza is not very good. We ordered a pizza once and never did again. Try a burger though, all my friends rave about them. Their salads are good too.
happiest girl - Try Dr. Praeger's spinach burgers, frozen at Weis. If you eat dairy, add a thin slice of Sargento cheddar and/or a dollop of good sour cream. So delish! Sometimes I get adventurous, add the juice of one lemon and sprinkle with garlic powder, smoked paprika, parsley and capers before reheating.
I know the literal definition. If you call mushed vegi's a burger I'm calling a sausage sandwich a hotdog n Dominos pizza.
DannyC --- I've had lots of the Dr. Praeger's line of food --- very good quality. Where does the juice of one lemon go (that's alot of juice) .... just on top, or mixed with the sour cream?
This week I tried the "Wholesome Pantry" Black Bean Chipotle Burger as it was on sale at shoprite. I melted cheese on top and had it on a Panera Asiago Bagel with mustard on one side of the bread, and a tomato slice topped with mayo, romaine lettuce and pickle slice. Delish!!

happiest girl - Should have clarified that I sometimes cook two spinach burgers and serve as a meal with piccata-style toppings and no bread. Not a real burger? Don't care, just love 'em. Your Black Bean Chipotle Burger dish sounds tasty, gotta try this soon.
"Best fry and burger combo is Humpty Jr in Delaware. Order cajun fries and a chili cheddar burger with jalapenos - extra sloppy. And then watch them cringe when you say "to go". ;-)" GC
Bumping this up because GC is right, great place, great people.
And if you join Humpty's frequent flyer club on your smart phone, you get I think $5 your first order. That's good enough reason alone to try them once!
Humpty is from Phillipsburg, used to hunt or something up here, never really planned this, but was driving by one day, saw it, bought it, added the jr. to avoid copyright in case he got famous, decked it out with collectibles, and learned to make some great counter food and ice cream treats. Classic small business story with some twists. Closed on Monday. Classic ice cream stand, drive-in look and feel.
It's good enough that I use the Delaware exit off 80 when coming East pretty much all the time now :>)
If you can eat beef, try the half pound cheeseburger deluxe on a toasted sub roll with fried onions, tomatoes, cold slaw, French fries and a pickle slice at the Sub Shack, right here in beautiful downtown Haskettstown. A lot of delicious food for $6.75. Sub Shack's cheese steaks are great as well, all four varieties, all delicious. Can't beat this place.
tried the burger at Monchy's last week was pretty good. $8.95 for good size burger and fries are good too
Definitely the Grilled Shrimp Burger at Bill's Bar and Burger at Harrah's Casino... whole shrimp combined with some ground shrimp and breadcrumb binder formed into a patty and grilled. Topped with avocado, cole slaw, pickles and tartar sauce. I had my first one at about 3 in the morning after playing in a poker tournament for about 15 hours straight. I won a little over $2,500 but that burger was still the highlight of my day, lol.
Ianimal, I must have that shrimp burger!!!! Or I can try to make one at home.
Mount olive burger is closing the doors Saturday. Lease is up and they want to have more family time :(
I don't eat burgers much so I can't compare too much but I can honestly say that when I have an occasional crave the triple prime bacon cheddar or mega mushroom burger (rare or med rare )from Ruby Tuesday hits the spot! Especially if you ask for cajun seasoning AND ask your server for fries with no salt because they will be piping hot from the fryer. Ask for some garlic salt on the side because that's what's on them. Or just salt yourself. Amazing fries. Turkey burgers also amazing, just inform server to make sure it's NOT overcooked. They do have to cook to a certain temp for safety reasons but not kill it. If you're leary, join so connected on the website and you will get a free burger birthday coupon. It's worth a shot.
I also found the burger I had at Taphouse Grill quite tasty, but so far the best I've had is the one I had at the "Country Corner Store and Cafe" in the old Anderson Hotel at the corner of Rt. 57 and Anderson-Asbury Road as I just wrote about in their thread. Both my buddy from work and I were really impressed!
I like the burgers from the Allen Road farm. Why do you think they are missing?
25 Burger is now 30 Burger.
I've been working close to the one in "Somerville" if you call it that. It's so bad because I'm at 30 Burger every time I work there. Some really good choices, but that Gyro burger is just plain wrong to tempt us like that. Oh yeah.
