Centenary Baseball Field

Centenary Baseball Field

Since the last thread regarding this project was high jacked by some and got closed I thought I was pass along information that the Planning Board approved the baseball field at their meeting last night.

Open field with bleachers, no locker room, no lights, no concession stand. Plenty of input from the neighbors, board members help d convince the designer to add more netting and landscaping

Centenary already has plans to let the HS team use it as well as youth levels. Could be used for county tournaments which will bring people into town

Overall a pretty good design

Looks awesome. The future HHS players and youth players are lucky to have it.

Where is this going? I can't tell by the map. Do they really need a second field with the Tannery right there?

Tannery is a softball field and is not up to NCAA standards

This field is at the corner of Reese and Fifth next to the lacrosse field.

Looks green in that drawing. Wasn't it going to be blue? At least that is what they told me when I bought the fund raising ticket.

Is it still blue?

No. The drawing above is what it will look like. Green and brown turf

Re: Centenary Baseball Field

No blue field???? waaaa

Might be a tight fit too. Looks as if they are going to have to cut away part of the parking lot.

Will that be where the spring festival usually sets up? I guess that will have to move then?

Yea. It will take up 1/2 of where spring fest is. Somspring fest will be at other side. Plenty of room to have everything on the side where the rides were

Glad to see this happening. If Centenary is committed to a baseball program, as I'm sure they are, they need this.

I think a blue field would have looked awful.

Grass or Artificial turf?

Originally it was blue turf. I agree Mark it would have looked awful. So happy they listened and changed
Now it is green turf with brown turf where the “dirt” is. Wish they would have used real dirt for the infield but I get that this is way less maintenance especially when they have multiple games per day and don’t need to rake and redo the baselines between games

Thanks Jim L.. Ohhh it's way in the back by Hatchery Hill. I can see that now. Looks like it'll be very nice!

Where did the baseball team play before if not Tannery, I wonder why I always thought that? No more fair grounds in this field if this is to be built?

Even I would hit more home runs than Jake Hall if I played at Tannery. Even with a BBCOR. It's not a baseball field.

what about the walking path for Hatchery students!!!!

WalkingWilly your taking about the wrong side of 5th Avenue!!!! Walking path will remain. Baseball field is on the other side of the road from Hatchery Hill school. The other sad fact is not many of the kids today walk to & from school. Mommy daddy & granny pick up & drop off.

Breaks my heart they will be cutting down that beautiful row of trees. My sister and I would walk from Hatchery Hill to Centenary everyday after school and walk through them (back in the 70's). I'm so happy that we took this walk again recently and got to enjoy their beauty before they are torn down.

You could plant trees at your residence.

That image in the OP has alot of trees planned on it. May not be the same but its nice. Down left field line is usually the worst place to park at a ball field. As shown, with out large nets erected you couldnt leave a car there.
