Help identify bird at Riverfront Park

Saw this guy the last couple of visits to Riverfront Park, hanging out near the trout ponds. Not sure of the ID and hoping the forum birdwatchers can help. I was thinking it might be a Kingfisher, but not certain when checking my guides. Also thought it might be a Little Blue Heron, but the plumage around the neck bring that into question. Help solve the mystery!! Thanks!!

That would be a Green Heron.

Definitely the green heron. There's at least three living in Riverfront park enjoying their taxpayer funded trout, along with at least two great blues, and two belted kingfishers.

I'm sure our Governor will find a way to charge the Heron for a fishing license! LOL

That is a great facility there for sure. it even has a resident pig!

What a cool bird! Thanks for sharing!

A green heron has been known to use bait to catch fish. Here's an example:

Thanks to all for helping ID the Green Heron. And the last video with the Heron using bread at bait is simply incredible.

Greg: I watched one of the green herons catch just about a fish a minute for 10-15 minutes. They're better fisherman than you or me, except that their fish aren't above the legal limits.

That's a crazy video.
