I was just discussing this yesterday with a co-worker. See link below - - -

Some of the old abandoned resorts in the poconos are pretty cool. Sometimes Sterling Mine opens for photographers. With the pocono resorts keep in mind you are technically trespassing, and could get arrested, but more likely to get chased.
1 & 2 Penn Hills Resorts 3 Old Buck Hill Inn ( got caught there ) 3 and 4 Sterling Hill mine.
I'm always looking for new places, and anyone interested in exploring.
Many abandoned farm and homesites along Old Mine Road/Delaware Water Gap area, legal to wander around (without going inside)

I used to work at Penn Hills. It was my first real job. Buck Hill Inn always looks for trespassers. Strickland’s was really cool before they tore it down.
In NJ, Walkpack is a really interesting place to explore. You would take last exit in NJ on interstate 80 going west. Drive up Old Mine Road. A lot of history and a few abandoned buildings. The whole area was taken over by the federal government in order to make Tocks Dam, but the project fell through. Now most of it is the DWG National recreation area.
There are a bunch of old tunnels around here from when the railroads were running. Also, the Paulinskill Viaduct is really fun to explore.
Along all of Delaware River by last Rt 80 exit (b4 Pa side)- link below:

Penn Hills/Blue Mountain Lake is my ancestor's property. After closing Penn Hills was vandalized and burned. More than once. It's been bull dozed. Buck Hill Inn does not take kindly to trespassers, no technicality about it. I would not recommend those places.
There are definitely building up at Penn Hills, but they are really in a bad state.
You need apermit to go to the Paulinskill Viaduct... It is free. Couple friends got a hefty fine for not having one. Sad think that was due to some idiot deciding to climb it and through the portholes and got stuck couple years back.
I've caught a few Mysteries of the Abandoned ianimal. The one on the Nazi structures was very interesting. Some of the stuff they did was amazing and too bad it was for the wrong purpose.
Wildman's other show was great, Cities of the Underworld.
Yes, the abandoned railroads are great for pics. Take a hike / bike ride on the lower tracks through Blairstown which is now the Paulinskill Trail.
Contact me. I'd be glad to give you some ideas but putting them online pretty much give these sites a death sentence.... google "Profanity House of Tranquility" as an example
