Identify Flowering Shrub?
Hoping all the avid gardeners and flower enthusiasts can help identify this flowering shrub. I’m told it’s rare and since I can’t find and reference to something similar, I wonder if that’s true. Thanks!
Looks like Japanese pieris or similar. Who told you it was rare? You might be able to bring a piece to the Rutgers Cooperative Extension in Belvidere for proper identification but not sure of their hours or if they’re open. The red leaves are the new growth.
That has to be it! Haven’t seen the white blooms yet but the leaves and new growth are spot on! Heard it was rare from a family member but they didn’t remember the name. Maybe not native to the area. Thanks!!
The flowers would have come first -- then the new red growth. Is yours a new plant? Maybe that would explain why you had no flowers this year?
Speaking of which --- where are the bumble bees this year? As soon as the Andromeda bush flowers we always have a huge amount of bumble bees feeding and they are here for weeks. I am sad to say I have not seen one bumble bee this year.

Happiest; ours did have bumble bees, and we were happy to see the bumbles. Oddly, though, one of the plants did not.
Plant is at least 5 years old. Was here when we bought the property. Finally removed a bunch of overgrowth in front of it!
