Automotive type radiators

Does anyone know who repairs radiators? I have a copper/brass one that needs to be hot dipped to clean out crud inside it.
Any help will be appreciated.

I had the radiator done in my 1965 Pontiac. The shop was on Stiger Street but I don't recall the name, it was 20 plus years ago.

I did hear of these guys though.

Any reason not to replace?

I second the recommendation of Symonds, he is a long time pro in this lost art.

If you own a classic car, the original radiator tank often has stampings that a replacement or reproduction will not have. These stampings often have date and model codes, that show the radiator is original to the car. Of course, the radiator core may have been replaced in the past, but maintaining those stock tanks with the stampings are of great value.

To maintain stock provenance, you would want the radiator to be repaired by an "old school tech", such as Symonds is.

If your not so worried about originality, be careful buying a replacement- the replacements are absolutely of inferior quality compared to an original unit from 30-60 years ago- but the replacement will be cheaper- your going to pay for the skillset that is vanishing if you choose to repair the original brass one, but will end up with a radiator that most likely will outlast your time with the vehicle.

All, the radiator is out of a John Deere diesel powered air compressor. It didn’t leak but has gunk in it so the heat exchange is diminished. Want to get it cleaned and checked for leaks. To replace a industrial radiator would cost several hundred bucks.
Thank you for the recommendation, I’ll call them.

I don't remember their name either, but I agree they did great work. I bought a Ford Motorsport custom radiator for my '86 Mercury Capri 5.0L HO They did a custom install on it for me, including bending the tranny coolant lines to line up properly with the newer, thicker unit and installing my "Special Service (aka Police)" blue Silicon hoses. Turned out perfectly, with no leaks or stress on the tranny lines and I later replaced the "tend to shatter" plastic fan and fan clutch myself with a Flexfan, when I noticed cracks start to form on the fanblades near the hub. That combo worked like a dream no matter what the conditions!
