Computer repair and tech help
Hi Sandy - I offer remote tech support (where I can dial in a computer and help with any software issues) I am local to Warren County. I can also help with any hardware related issues. I have 15 years IT support background. You email me if interested.
Have not had need to use him for a while but Brian Skuropacki at 908-340-7771 or thecomputersuperhero@gmail.com...knows computers inside and out and is very reasonable...
The Computer Repair place in Hastings Square is no longer operating. Sad shame, they were honest and reliable.
Brian Skuropacki 100 percent. I've been using him for years. Reasonable, honest and the nicest guy. I've referred him to several friends and they have all been very satisfied with his service.
The posts are not current. My computer has a virus. Can someone push me in the right direction to resolve.? Best that someone capable looks at it, Sad to say I dont know much about computers. Thank you!
microsoft I take it.
pull malewarebytes from web, free version, and run it.
Pull msert from the web, either 32byte or 64byte version depending on your pc.
Run it on full and it will take awhile. It may show issues but erase them at the end, that's normal.
it's free
if that does not work, google microsoft customer support and be prepared to slug your way to a chat. It's hard, but they will chat, they are human when they do, and they will probably fix it.
get a good package: aura is one of the best, cheapest out there. you get 4 or 5 licenses with a subscriptions, plus vpn, dark web, pulling your name from databases, and id/financial fraud protect. Good deal: better if you have 4 "family" members but really does not have to be four. you can get aura for free for awhile, but if you have family, it's the best deal out there, like 25% of the norton price.
Also- SuperAntiSpyware free edition
It found a virus for me last week that my full version of MalwareBytes didn't catch
Josh, malewarebytes and virus protection have differences, by definition. MB says you should get additional protection; free version does not have real time support, premium paid for version does and might be considered virus protection.
I run malewarebytes, aura, and defender simultaneously. Then put msert and ccleaner on top for scans I initiate. Msert is Msoft's tool, not a program, not really a product but it gets the newly detected virus cures first. It looks like a tool, not polished interface and you demand the scan. Can take hours for a full scan. It will probably show many viruses during scan but they disappear as it finishes, just how it works.
Am I crazy? No, I had a breach, a supposed comcast tech, and they were really good. Made me believe so I opened the pc door for less than 30 seconds. When I called them back, it went to comcast ---- yeah, they were that good. Huge professional boiler room operation. Comcast did not really seem to care what they were doing in Comcast's name, sad.
Bottom line is once breached, no one can tell you your machine is clean. Ever. I have dumped all, brought it back, but you never really know. Plus with cloud stuff and device sharing, it can go far and wide across all of your devices as well. I killed all that stuff too.
Like I said, beyond freeware, Aura is best deal out there, very professional, have humans to talk with, US based, and if you have multiple members, it's a real deal over Norton and the rest. And on top of virus protection, you get vpn, id protection, financial protection, dark web id, database purges, smartphone protection and some really freaky call screening capabilities that I killed for now ---- it scared service folks and doordash trying to call me. IF you opt to pay, I think they are the best bang for the buck right now and I expect the free multiple members part will fade once they get massive market share.
