Was looking for a job on here and that admin job posted looks awfully suspicious.
That's it. Just figured it's a slow burn type of vent to start.
DogDayAfternoonCan't edit my post, but - 7figureflipping is a dot com, not dot net - so right there, it's sus. Plus, why post on a little town's website and not anywhere on the internet? etc. Just don't want anyone to fall for sending out any personal info. That's all.

I noticed that ad as well and I too thought it was fraudulent. At least it's not one of the duct cleaning, car detailing, garage door repair, Internet access, my son has autism buy this shirt scam you see plastered all the time on FB.LOL
Greg Those are automated bots that post that crap, it's all over on many many places. That guy is a real guy trying to sell you on flipping houses. And making him the money, not really you. It's not much different than those old infomercial guys.
(no difference between high level domains by the way - there is no rule about who can/can't get them)

Hackresident Over half the drugs and supplements aren't approved by the food and drug administration. How are they allowed to sell them ??

Calico696 IMO, it's the drug names that drive me wild. Incomprehensible, indecipherable, ungroundable, with letters than just don't belong together in the English language.
Plus, being in a business offering new products, we could pay six-digits or more to find a new, safe, name. So, I guarantee these things cost a lot of money.
I take one that's ten years old and no one can still pronounce it correctly. Including me.
babbit When big Pharma spends 6.8 billion a year on advertising and another 375 million on "lobbying" in Washington, the most by any industry, I'm surprised there are any other commercials on TV. We too dumped network television some time ago.
When just 4 big pharma companies raked in over 90 billion on the scamdemic alone and counting, why not plaster their products to the American people ad nauseum and buy the providers - can you say Perdue Pharma -Sackler family?

ianimal Speaking of the big pharma commercials: How come they can't lower prices but can afford big singing and dancing commercials constantly? I can do without that. Plus, the 'ask your doctor' lines. Yeah. Never had my doctor ask for my opinion or take one.

Yes, Hackresident, i know who you mean. I usually mute the TV as soon as that comes on and fast-forward through it if it's a show on my DVR. The mute button is a great invention. I use it often.

Courtney1 My vent: When did the meaning of a Yield sign and Stop sign change? For many, now approaching a yield sign means speed up to get in front of cars already on the roadway. Stop signs now mean, apply break for a second then “gun it” to jump out in front of oncoming cars. This ME FIRST mentality is not only very dangerous but aggravating as hell.

OnTheEdge I see there is a S.T.E.A.M. meeting at the library today. I scratch my head every time I see info for STEAM. Years ago, it started out as STEM and was meant to introduce kids (teens?) to the science and technology fields. I believe it was mostly aimed at getting more females into those fields. It seems to me that adding Arts is totally the opposite of the original intent.
FarmerJake Farmer Jake…. Well I went to college for Art spent 10 years in the career in that time I found my creativity made me a dam good engineer. So yes having artist talk to scientists and engineers might be a good thing… note I am computer engineer with now 25 plus years experience so yes as a engineer you need think and work out side of a box which all comes from creative side. Engineers and scientists get to focused and can’t see the trees in a forest.

eapos A couple weeks ago I tried to start a new topic and couldn't. I gave up. I've noticed that this space seems to be "dying out". A shame. I enjoyed checking in every day to see what people were discussing. For sure, I wanted to see if there were any comments about the drones being seen in Warren County (and elsewhere). FB has some on the Mansfield pages.

Please, this is not the place for new threads. It gets completely lost here. If you refresh the "Start a new topic" page, you should now at least get something that will accept the new post. If for some reason you get an error, then by all means post it here as more discussion venting about what doesn't work. Then the site admin can be contacted to fix it with the information about what the error was.

I've had two friends over the last few months post either items for sale or jobs.
Both didn't get an email saying it was posted to their email, yet shows on HL.
Both never got a single response.
Is it the system or glitch? Don't know, but seems weird.
Something is wrong… I can not open new forum subjects… but I can respond to open forums posts…. The forum membership is dropping fast because it is not being used as it was used years ago… maybe the moderator can explain… Also something that is strange …if you do post it says you posted 5 hours ago and not that post 1 hour ago. I used to love to post about the weather and now I am at the point I am stepping away and not checking here for what is going on locally…. Sad …
I think that usage may have dropped because more people are using the Nextdoor app, as it reaches a wider audience, more reviews on local businesses and better search functionality.
But Nextdoor also seems to have more auditing and “censorship”
Local LibertyThinker. That's true. When I posted this morning under this subject, I think it said 7 hours ago and it wasn't. I just know you don't get responses to jobs or any posts, so why bother to post things for sale or jobs, etc. Something is glitchy!
To all… I believe this forum is slowly fading away which is sad … thank you for heads-up of the APP …Nextdoor … as for censorship… I am really sick and tired of listening to nonsense anymore so sometimes censorship is a good thing… we all have that 1 person we know that believes the earth is flat… so sick and tired of crazy conspiracy theories. I agree that this forum seems to have faded away. I used to check daily to see what is happening in this area. Even though there were many complaints aired, it was a good community discussion session for us. I sometimes submitted a question about something I might have been dealing with and enjoyed & appreciated people's responses, advice, or suggestions.
I had difficulty starting a new topic. Figured it was my lack of tech savvy. Now it seems it's a glitch.
This was sort of a local newspaper for us. We have little means any more of getting local news, and often, when we inquire on here about a traffic accident or loud noises or mention something we've seen, there is ridicule or snarky responses about being nosey.
Well, that's my vent. Have a nice day. Hopefully a little rain, because we need it.
It seems that after Covid, a lot of people dropped from this forum or perhaps moved away - who knows. I check it daily for updates but sadly there are hardly anymore!
Luca2 When my wife and I first moved to Hackettstown seven years ago, this was my go-to forum for any questions we had about the area, local businesses, activities, etc. It was extremely helpful back then, but as others are pointing out, there is very little activity here now. I notice I check in only once or twice a week, and I won't miss anything.
Regarding the glitch, last time I tried to start a new topic I tried four or five times and the question never showed up (even though it said it had posted). Then, three or four days later, out of the blue my topic showed up on my iPad, with one reply. It still has never shown up on my computer, either at home or at work. So weird.
For a long time I tried to follow the Community Forum (or whatever it's called) on Facebook, but like almost everything related to Facebook, it was a wretched experience. I will continue to check in here, but unfortunately it does seem like the forum's time has passed.
Monty For anything pertinent in town or official business Hackettstown.net is the source for information. Also, the hackettstowbid.com site is informative. Naturally for schools there are those sites.
For gossip and at times accurate information as well as some discussions of new business entities in town and the like, this site is the place.
For predominantly racism, hatred, trolls, and filth then FB forums are the answer.
For the word on the street stuff- GET OFF the computer LOL!! Hit the barber shops, walk Main street. Chat in the supermarkets. Walk in the parks and strike up a conversation. Stay and chat at fellowship time after church. You know actually interact with people in person LOL
