Slate Roof Repair
Hello, I have not seen any current discussion on this topic so I am looking for recommendations for a roofer or handyperson who is knowledgeable in slate roof repairs. I have a couple areas of my roof that need some attention.

IF looking for more, now or in the future, I would look to the slate belt --- like Bangor PA. That's where it all came from and there's more existing slate roofs up there than anywhere else in America. Used to be the best slate and the best slate workers were from there.

Some of the local roofs were likely made from slate from Mansfield, where there were a few slate deposits that were mined and were said to be of superior quality. The book that mentioned that, did also say that a number of local roofs were covered in Mansfield slate.

There’s still three active mines in Bangor I think and probably skilled workers. There’s more slate roofs up there than here;,and we have a lot. If I had a big job, might look at talent there. That’s all. Got to be a dying art.
